E4od

I have a 97 powerstroke with a e4od transmission. When I shift it in to first gear it won't shift back in to any other gear. So I have to get under the truck and nock it back out. All other gears work just fine. Put a new shift cable on but didn't fix

Yes the shifting handle won't budge. So I ordered a new column tube. Hopefully that works.

Re: E4od

This might sound crazy but did you check your fuses? My dads 97 for some reason will do this usually at least once during the wetter months. Its been awhile but for some reason I vaguely remember his would do it related to the combination switch or the abs light. All that being said I can't remember what fuse number it is that blows but yes the shifter would literally be locked up and until you replaced that fuse the only way to shift was to crawl down underneath and do it manually.

Re: E4od

I had that happen on my OBS gasser, the cast aluminum shift rod that goes down the coulumn broke, the broken halves would catch on the way down, not on the way up though
