Trans swap from auto to 6sp manual

Is this possible in my truck? Has anyone done this?
I was told that I couldn't unless I bought a new cab because they are shaped differently. Is this true?

You can do it, been done lots of times. The PCM will even work if I am not mistaken.

Yea you can def. do it honestly probably the easiest way to do it is buy a donor 6spd truck as you would have a fortune in just buying parts and the floorborads are different not the cab. You need a section of floor board from a manual truck. But has been done many times.

like Marty has said before... the six speed swap is overrated. (i think he said that. somewhere... )

going from the six speed to an auto, the only reason i could see the hand shaker for is towing. traffic and in town driving is terrible.

People do it b/c it makes the truck more reliable for everyday use. And its not a bolt in plate in the SDs you have to actually cut a piece out and weld it back in. Most other ford stuff have bolt in plates even the obs. but not the sds

I did a six speed to auto swap about two years ago. The stick was great for towing, but I swapped thinking my wife would drive my truck if she needed to. The thing is, now I don't want her to. Is it just my wife, or do most women go from reverse at 5mph straight to drive? She didn't understand why her tranny took a dump.

I still have all of the six speed stuff if you need any thing.
