4R100 to 5R110 conversion

Has anyone tried this yet i love the 7.3 but i think the close ratio 5R110 would really set these trucks off to really keep them in the power band

4R100 is a great trans, 5R110 wouldn't be worth it. Plus, it'd be next to impossible.

Re: 4R100 to 5R110 conversion

4r100 are pretty desirable because they have good gear ratio's, hell i have heard of people putting them behind cummins engines because the ratio's are better.

Flip side is, I love my 5r110, but i think the cost to convert it and run a PCS prolly wouldnt be worth the extra cost ect.

couple trucks one fast one not

The 4R100 is a great tranny and can easily be beefed.

The top three gears have the same ratio in both transmissions.

If only those who knew what they were talking about replied, this thread would still be on page one.

Re: 4R100 to 5R110 conversion

its the extra inbetween low gear that I wanted. You would need to find a trans and tcase. I would have to look back though things to find who made the adapter since it does not bolt up, PCS now has a controller for it also. When I was originally looking into doing my auto swap I looked at this really hard. But what got me since I got ahold of a donor truck was the extra cost of the adapter and the PCS (which I want to do in the future anyway) Then still having to spend a bit of money on some better parts for it.
