need help

well im having trouble with my truck it seems when I put it in reverse that it just shuts off like the rpms drop and then it dies. I have had the valve body and converter replaced because that's what the trans shop we took it to said would fix it but didn't and ford has bin no help at all saying they cant figure it out so im wondering if any of yall have any ideas on what could be the problem.

soon to come mods-bts vb, itp ss line,ats turbo housing and then bts trans

Don't know if it is the problem. But I took a class from Mike Cleary and he talked about the IPR doing something like this on occasion.

There is a nut on the back that could come loose. And when in reverse it shuts the truck off.

You say valve body. Do you mean solenoid pack?

where is the ipr? and is the bolt something i can just tighten myself?

and no it was the valve body that was replaced.

Would the TC locking up pre-maturely cause this.??

mine did that cuz it was low on fluid

97 f-250 hd solid axle cold air 4in dp 3in body lift 4in exhaust rollin on 36 12.50 swampers hopfully have 46's under it this fall

Yes.

Low fluid or internal problems will cause that.

pressure is leaking in to the lock up circuit from another circuit, probably in the pump. been there before

Another vote for the pump-an internal hydrualic leak to convertor apply circuit. Replace with a NEW not reman pump, this problem starts showing up in reverse because line pressure is significantly higher than in other gears and you aren't moving.
