97 2wd e4od wont shift

This truck is goofy. The other day it would not shift into second gear while on the throttle. Let off and it shifted fine. Then yesterday i pulled my sixteen foot trailer, empty, it acted fine. Today, same funny shifting. trans was rebuild about 3 yrs ago. No problems till now. Any advice would be helpful.

Re: 97 2wd e4od wont shift

i have talked to a few people about this. I have heard that when the accumulator body gets worn, it can stick. causing my situation. i have also heard that it could be burnt clutch packs. i am confused! I can't decide if i should change the accumulator valve or rebuild. Dollar wise the cheaper the better right now,(gotta love the current economy).

I don't believe there is an accumulator in the E4OD.

All the shifting is done electronocally and there is NO vaccum invovled.

How is the fluid? does it smell funny? When was the last service.

This seems to be the best thing i have found so far that relates to what my truck is doing. fluid smells a little smokey but not real bad. last service was 18-19 months ago.
