Tranny Leak From Inspection Cover

I got a tranny leak that comes out heavily from the inspection cover when it warms up, everything shifts fine, anybody got any information on what it could be. Thank you.

There are more than the frt seal, oring on the frt cover etc. Had mine out twice to get them all replaced and stop the leak.

Front seal is usually OK, the o-ring that seals the pump housing to the case is what leaks, and usually only when hot.

Good luck

I agree, but if I am pulling the tranny for a leak, I am replacing everything it might be.

Yeahh.. I would still change the front pump seal and the sealing washers also, even though they were not the culprit!

How much did this cost you roughly?

Re: Tranny Leak From Inspection Cover

I'd have to find the invoice. I had a new conv, and while the trans was out of the way had them do the up pipes also. Saved some labor while the trans was out, did everything that might be needed so I should be good for a while. Total parts, labor, fluids, conv, up pipes & doughnuts, etc was about $1500 The up pipes surprised me on the price of those. The truck had 130K miles and everything was orig so I only wanted to do it once. Labor to do the oring they missed the first time was free.

Re: Tranny Leak From Inspection Cover

I have never seen that, but okay. I have never had an o-ring failure on the front pump. I have had several front pump torque converter seals fail, as they turn against the OD of the torque converter pump drive neck. good luck on the repair.
