trans wont shift

when i put the trans in drive it will stay in drive it wont start in low and shift up through the gears,if i start in 2nd and manuly go to drive it shifts fine any help will be great

What truck? What year? What engine? What transmission? Without that information all I can tell you is that something isn't right and needs to be fixed.

Does the shifter have an OD OFF button on the end?

The place to start is with the codes. You need to find someone with the right tool to read the codes, a place that reads codes free will tell you there are no codes.

had the trans rebuilt by a local guy and its still doing the same thing he said it must be elect but does not know?anyone i could call that might have a clue?

Did you follow this advice before wasting money on a rebuild? There's nobody that can help you without the codes.

yes there were no codes,the trans guy said it was fried so i had him rebuild it and he sait its doing the same thing,idk i trusted him,,now idk what to do..im not good on computer so i was hoping i could call someone and talk to them,,has anyone herd of such a thing?

It sounds electrical like solenoids but without testing it, who knows.
