Dropping temps...

Got the fully built Suncoast in the truck now and even with the 6.0 cooler it runs right around 200 degress daily driving and even in the highway. And thats unloaded, I can't imagine what it's gonna do with a trailer in tow.

Before the tranny was built it ran 160-170, what do I do? What are my options?

Re: Dropping temps...

I would verify good flow through the cooler before doing anything to it.

Re: Dropping temps...

i would verify that temp is correct..my autometer gauge reads almost 20* over the scanner. but ambient temps do play a role in the temp. i think the rule of thumb is 75-80* over ambient.

Re: Dropping temps...

The gauge being off could be a possibilty, but it's only reading hotter since the tranny build.

I'm a good 100 degrees over ambient, I'll crwl under there tonight and to make sure the hoses aren't kinked or something.

Re: Dropping temps...

My BTS transmission ran hotter then the stocker by around 20deg. The explanition I received was the higher pressure generate more heat. I upgraded my cooler to a V-10 behind the bumper and it is fine now.
