allison

what is all the hype about an allison transmission about? what sets them apart from other transmissions?

F-250 7.3L 2wd manual 5 speed, turbo, chip, custom exhaust

They are great in stock form. Shift smooth and will last if kept stock. They cant hold very much extra power though.

Well they were the first to offer the ability to shift gears with the buttons, has a tow/haul button and ability to turn OD off, double tap the brakes to down shift. I think most of the praise is of the electronic features that the truck has.

Loveable? Not really. From what Ive seen ford has the best pickup truck transmission right now.

Basing this from talking to trans builders. The allison isnt as mod friendly and doesnt do worth a flip unmodded.

Not saying they cant be built to what you need. Its just going to cost you to get there.

Oh I agree completely. Its after the mods that the allison comes unglued
