crap trans

So, I got the trans rebuilt but now its doing a sort of "two stage" shift into forth gear. A small decrease in rpm followed by the rest of the normal decrease in rpm when it finally goes all the way. Seems to do it less when its cold..

What do you think? Valve?

Also, I get a vibration that is not road related when there is a high load on trans. Steep hills, heavy loads and so on.

Re: crap trans

the extra shift you are feeling is probably the TC lockup

Ok, I can feel it lock up in 3rd but when it shifts to 4th will it unlock then lock again during the shift?

Re: crap trans

Depends on your programming. Push the OD off and when going fast enough turn it back on and see what the shift feels like. Probably still need someone to ride with you that is familiar or get a scan tool and watch gear status and lockup to see what is actually happening.

On edit: You may have some slippage or clutch chattering under load which could be indicative of pressure loss or other problems.

Re: crap trans

With the OD off I guess I could see how it locks up but it won't shift into 4th. That's what I am having problems with (3rd to 4th).

Reread what he said.

Turn OD off, then when you get to the point it would normally shift into OD, turn OD back on so it can shift in. See what it feels like.
