Test OSS

Have an 04 6.0 5R110W and get the OSS code. So far I have checked out the wiring and haven't found any problems there. How do I test the OSS to see if it is at fault?

Re: Test OSS

There is a spec for resistance across the sensor. That's the only thing you can check. Either the resistance is right or the sensor is bad.

Re: Test OSS

Thanks Mark. What should the resistance value be? I read 0 ohms from pin 1 (voltage) to pin 2 (signal) and 5.5 ohms from pin 2 (signal) to pin 3 (ground) on mine.

Re: Test OSS

Finally found it. Should read 325-485 ohms from pin 1 to pin 2. Looks like the sensor is bad.

Re: Test OSS

I kinda found it accidently. I was looking at the online version of the 5R110 transmission manual to see if there was any difference, and it gave the ohm test value. The printed version that I have has the same picture, but the caption doesn't give the ohm value.
Bought a replacement and now it works great.
