Did the swap and nothing happens when cycling through any gears on shift lever.
Have compushift tranny controller so did not swap solenoid pack.
Any ideas??

The linkage may not be connected, either inside or outside of the trans.

We changed outside shaft and linkage, but not inside linkage. In my mind, without even tranny controller it should try to back up or go forward.

Yes it will. With no electronics connected it will engage and drive forward or reverse.

Put a 0-350 PSI gauge in the test port of the trans. What pressures do you get in each PRNDL position?

Re: 4r100 into obs

We haven't got a psi gauge yet, but we opened up the e4od pan and we cannot see a difference in the shift lever. Where is the difference?

I see they both push in the "piston" to shift from park to drive and so on.
Tried cycling column shift lever. Its like its in neutral or park all the time.
Quite stumped at this point.

Is the transfer case in neutral? It's something simple but figured it's easily overlooked.

No it isn't, but we found the problem. The pump shaft had not been put in tranny. Rebuilder put it to the side and the installer didn't take the old/previous one out of the original tranny.
