Trans differences from 1999 to 2001

I know the internals have some differences(mech. diode) but are there any external differences? I'm looking at a late 99 trans to replace the smoked trans in my 01. Any help is much appreciated, I'll be buying the other(99) trans today if it will work.

IF I get this trans, I'll be getting a different TC, plus it will be nice to be rid of the mech. diode. Owner wasn't home today, going to look at in in the morning. Anything special to look for when looking at a used trans out of the truck? I'll be looking at the fluid real close, supposedly it's a 70,000 mile unit.
