imput shaft

Well when moving the trans around yesderday the imput shaft fell out... Can I simply put it back in or is there things inside that need to be alighned???? Its a E4OD


And which end goes in the trans?

1996 crew cab long box. 3.73s, auto 493/1135 stockish auto trans.

The end with the longer splines goes in the trans. As you insert it twist it back and forth you will feel it drop in.
