Trucks running a BTS 5R110

How many of you guys are there? I've got a few questions.

1. What's the price out the door?
2. How much difference did you notice as far as shift firmness and consistency?
3. What options are there?

Re: Trucks running a BTS 5R110

No hard facts, only what i've gathered from talking with Cale at BTS...

Price out the door completely built is about 4400$, and shifting firmness and whatnot will all be in the tuning. He could make it shift like stock if you wanted I would assume. I think the main difference would just be in the strength...

Good luck and hopefully others can post up with more details for you!

Re: Trucks running a BTS 5R110

New prices as of today..$4700. 5R110, built one way no options.
I'd recomened Cales tunes for the best shift stragities.
I'm a dealer for BTS and have great shipping rates!

1. Mine was 4,440 out the door 2 1/2 years ago.
2. Shifts are firmer and consistent, but I asked for them to be firm.
3. The only option you really have is go to BTS and get it built, or have Brian ship one to you. I highly recommend the trip.

My trans has the same build as Cale's, but I told Brian I was looking to put some power down. Otherwise, they're all built the same.

Re: Trucks running a BTS 5R110

1) im running one and love it mine was 4700+ shipping i believe. got it from truck source diesel, (sponsors on here).

2) shifts are much firmer, and yes its in the tuning, have been in a truck with cales tunes, and they were pretty smooth, elites tunes were hard (not complaining) loved the way they shifted, truck just felt like a beast!

and of course truck sources tunes, which chris has put some good time into and they shift just right when cruising or at the track.. just that little bit of firmness to chirp into the next gear and make your passengers freak :
3) there are some options from what i was told as far as billet input and output shafts, but brian said he sees no need for them as he has yet to have on break. i believe he cryos the factory shafts but i may be wrong.

Re: Trucks running a BTS 5R110

I honestly don't see a difference in the shifts, however Brian asked me some questions about my chip and figured it had some line pressure programed in, so I believe he "detuned" the shift pressures with his little punch and hammer on the gasket. My old tranny shifted hard right up to the point it let go, in the tear down, it was cooked inside BAD! all the guts went in the trash, and the biggest difference I see is the coast clutch was shot, now it holds rpm, skinny peddle down is much smoother at speed, the cruise control likes it much better too. Check yours, take your foot off at 60 mph and watch the rpms, shouldn't drop MUCH, if it goes back to idle right away the clutch is gone is what I was told.

Re: Trucks running a BTS 5R110

They are $4700 is the new pricing. The shift firmness is all in the tune. There is no shift plate to modify or drill larger holes, as its all controlled in the solenoid. BTS trannies are the only ones we sell.

Re: Trucks running a BTS 5R110

Thanks for all the input, guys!

I know that most of the firmness is from the tune, but I thought there were some solenoid mods that changed the firmness also? It doesn't matter that much though. The strength is what matters, and it appears that they know what they are doing!
