2002 excursion 4r100

236k miles
it just started to do this , when you put it in reverse it acts like its half way in park like its bound up or the brakes are on you have to mash the gas to get it to back up and it will go back but with quite a bit of resistance, other thing I notice is when put in neutral it has some forward movement to it kinda like its half way between neutral and drive, but so far all forward drive is fine. any ideas????

Not just an idea, I know what's wrong. Your forward clutch has failed and won't fully release. Unfortunately you'll need to either replace or rebuild the trans. This is only going to get worse until it won't reverse at all.
