is my transmission F'ed again?

ok this all started after i had my new clutch put in... my tranny will grind when i down shift from 4th to 3rd unless i let it get down to about 25mph then its fine.. but somtimes it will grind going from 2nd to 3rd but not all the time.. does this should like a clutch problem to anyone?

truck is a 2000 with the zf6

sounds like 3rd gear syncro is telling you it's tired.

'01 F250 4x4. 6 spd. GTP38R, Bellowed up pipes, tymar, straight piped, boost & EGT guages.

That, or there is still air in the clutch line and you are not getting complete clutch release.

probably air in the clutch line.... it never leaves

I would think if there is still air in the line going to the slave cylinder then he would have grinding in all gears, not just 3rd.

To me if it was not releasing all the way, getting in 1st or reverse before the vehicle was moving would be the hardest.

i dunno i had air in mine for a long damn time and it would grind random gears

yea im going to try bleeding the clutch again tomorrow... i hope that works..

IMHO its not worth the hassle. I tried on my 7.3 and never could get it bled right ended up taking the slave back and getting fords prebled maser/slave.

+1 on the pre-bled assembly. There are several aftermarket ones now. RockAuto has a Dorman and a Rhino-Pac. The Rhino-Pack we just got for my wife's OBS even came with the pedal switch, already loaded on the pushrod. Went in easy peasy.

I would guess syncro also at first. BUT since it started after you did the clutch,I would guess its not bled good enough either.I doubt its a coincidence.
