Exclamation Help what are the syntoms for silon vavle replacement in a trany for a 2001 f-350 7.3

I might rebuild the tranny but i want to know if my syntoms are just the syloniod vavles it shuts eng off @ idle when i go in rev. and won;t move in fwd ntil 2000 rpm sometime it shift fine though all the gears and when it slipps i just restart the truck and it will work for a little agian does this sound like silionod vavle prob?

Check the fluid level first. a low level will stall the truck in reverse. Silon's aren't they from Battlestar gellactica ;-)

Spencer give me a call tommorow some time after 3 just thought about taking the soleonoid assembly out of the trans thats in the trans that didnt work for me and send it to you and see if that works!

Just to see if that narrows the problem down for you! I will look in my tech manual and see if it can be done while the trans is in the truck without loosing anything!

Or maybe someone else will chime in

No, it does not sound like a solenoid problem. It sounds to me like you have some worn internal seals that are causing a lot of leakage. That will make the trans so that it won't move until you rev it in drive, and will cause the torque converter clutch to drift on and stall the engine in reverse. It is also possible that the pump is worn out. That will cause similar symptoms.

You can run a pressure test with a 0-350 PSI gauge in the pressure port in the side of the trans. The Ford shop manual has a pressure chart, I don't have those numbers.
