Re: How strong is the ZF 6?

as far as....? I havent had any problems with my truck. I pull around 40,000 gross up 6-8% grades and the only problem i had was the clutch slipping once in a while but now with a sb dd clutch its a thing of the past. I havent ever heard of any problems with the tranny itself? I dont really understand what your asking though.

Re: How strong is the ZF 6?

I want to race and have a standard that will take it.

from what I hear thats damn near impossible with a standard in a diesel

was thinking of putting one behind my cummins in a dodge.

Race and manual don't go together in diesel trucks... You would need a DD to race IMO, and that slows down shifting even more... I would also stick with the nv, better tranny IMO.

Re: How strong is the ZF 6?

You "can" race 6 spds... just slower.

Re: How strong is the ZF 6?

I'm not sure how strong they are, but they are holding up behind some high hp dmaxs and in cummins conversions. You always hear of problems with the nv trannies, I say go with the zf6.

Just because you're racing a manual doesn't mean you have to set records. If you want to be fast and be competative, I'd say go with the auto

Mine- 1995 Ford F-350 XLT CC 2wd DRW LB, ZF-6sp, '96 215 hp Cummins, SBDD, #10, SDX 5x14s, HE351cw/S475/1.10 twins, and other good stuff

My Newest-1995 Ford F-350 XLT CC 4x4 SRW LB, 460 gas, auto, Soon to be 12v Cummins, 4r100 and 700hp+

Wife- 2008 Ford F-350 Lariat CC SB 4x4 SRW, 20" factory wheels, navigation, sirius, all stock for now

Re: How strong is the ZF 6?

He already has an NV in his DODGE.

Why would he put a ZF6 or ZF5 into a dodge?

Re: How strong is the ZF 6?

I've given my manual absolute hell for 61,800 miles in my 6.4. The DD clutch is starting to hate me, but the tranny is doing great. FWIW
