Re: trans?

BTS for sure man. Mine is being built next Wednesday, and after talking to Brian, I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that it will handle everything I can throw at it, and last. Some of the highest HP trucks out there are running BTS trannies and they simply take the abuse with little or no problems.

Do yourself a favor and call BTS and talk to Brian, talk with him about what you're doing with the truck and I can guarantee that he'll put your mind at rest when he tells you about the kind of stuff guys have been doing to his trannies with no breaks or problems.

I blew 2 "built" trannies from a local diesel shop and then decided I was going to bite the bullet and send my trans to BTS to get done for the final time. Amazing customer service, warranty, reputation, quality, and track record.

Do the tranny once, call BTS.

Re: trans?

You shouldn't have any problems with one, the first things I did when I got mine was hit the strip, hook it to the sled, and then towed a decent sized trailer. It took it all without any issues, and I've turned it up since then and it still works great.

From what I remember Brian's been building these transmissions for around 20 years, and he got started rebuilding them for company work trucks.

Re: trans?

Just remember you still need adequate cooling for the transmission, BTS or not, especially when plowing at low speeds.

Re: trans?

For the SD's they install 6.0 coolers, and for the OBS trucks they put a V10 cooler in the bumper.

BTW does not last forever either. OTOH, when it breaks, he will fix it. Pushing snow is hard on the trans and IIRC there was someone who did push snow and he warrantied their trans in spite of knowing that.
