E40D DOA on side of the road

Drove the truck down the road to test out injector re-build. Went to turn around and had no reverse. Put it in drive and nothing. I tried 4 wheel high & low, nothing, nothing anywhere, foward or reverse.

Here's the strange part. Temp was at 160, no flashing OD light, no codes in my scanner (preditor), no leaking fluid, fuild is clean and doesn't smell burnt. I checked the linkage, it's solid. I still have park. Got pulled home from the side of the road, had it in nutral. I've checked all my fuses, rear sensor in the axle and connector to the trans, everything seems to be OK.

What am I missing?

Brad

Nothing even if you dropped it into drive and throttled it up quite a bit?

Do you have a gauge that you can check line pressure at the test port on the side of the transmission? That's strange you don't have anything all of a sudden.

Red, If I rev it up, it'll creep ever so slow, but man its not even a crawl. Does the same either in Forward or Reverse.

No, I don't have a line pressure gauge. Is there a field in my Preditor scanner maybe?

And yes, VERY strange to lose everything without notice.

Shop reports TC failure and no telling what after that. I don't understand if I have flow, why the TC is shot.

How are flow and a failed torque converter related? If the torque converter fails it doesn't stop the pump from working. The two are not related, though they are next to each other inside the trans.

Re: E40D DOA on side of the road

Thanks Dave & Mark.

As you can no doubt tell, I know little about transmissions other than buy them often.

Getting it towed home now. Anyone know how to test the solenoid pack in this unit?

Re: E40D DOA on side of the road

Yes, but why bother? It's not the solenoids. There is nothing electrical that will prevent it from moving. This is a mechanical failure. It has to come out and get replaced or rebuilt.
