Torqe converter locking up at idle....I think

On EVERY fresh cold start, when I put the transmission in gear (forward or reverse) the torqe converter acts like it is trying to lock-up and it really lugs-down the engine. Anyone have this problem.

Not on starts but I had it happen when slowing down for a stop light or something. For my case the usual problem is the solenoid pack. It controls the TC lock up. Replaced it but then blew the rest of the trans up so I don't actually know if it worked or not. They are expensive from Ford like $400 or more, but you can find them cheaper.

It's rarely the solenoid. It can be, but not usually.

Most often it is low trans fluid. It can also be a loose internal filter, leaking internal seals, a worn pump, or a bad converter. I listed them in the order of most likely to least likely.

Now that I highly doubt. My cooler was about 98% plugged before BTS. I never had trouble with it pulling the engine down when put in gear. But, maybe that was because the stock converter was worn out?

Brand new 6.0 L transmission cooler. The lines are on the bottom so that the 6.0 IC will fit.
