Electrical E40D Issue?

Having erratic shifting issues. Scanner reported CPS & Rear speed Sensor. Replaced both, shifted fine for a day. Scanner reported both sensors bad again. Changed rear end fluid, shifted fine for a day. As an idea, I pulled the chip to see how truck would shift. Well, that seemed to be the ticket, shifted fine. I got the chip re-flashed. Put chip back in and all my shifting issues returned. Pulled chip again and seems fine. Fluid is good, using AMSOil Tourqedrive.

I'm thinking I have electric issues? Can someone point me where to look or replacement parts? I've replaced the PCM some time ago. TC?

The other oddball thing is the OD light flashes only a few times, if at all, then goes away without clearing the codes.

Pulling my hair out.

I'm thinking chip problems. It works fine when you remove the chip, and has problems when you install the chip. Diagnostics don't get much simpler than this problem.

Thanks Mark for the reply. So you think I need a new chip, not just a re-flash?

I have no idea. I just know it's the problem.

I have a friend that's going to let me borrow his chip to verify. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Is it common for a chip to do this?

Yes. I believe this has been an issue with guys using edge products for quite some time. The chips usually increase line pressure but certain vehicles like yours do not always require it. Your tuning supplier should be able to change these settings.

Never had Edge products on/in it. Had this chip for years. Many different tunes from different tuners. I get to test another chip this week.

So, originally you had no problems using the chip? Could be bad tunes or the chip went south.
