Exclamation Growling noise???? torque converter ???

The truck makes a grinding/growling noise when im coming to a stop. About one sec. before i come to a compleat stop the truck vibrates a little and make a growling noise, a friend told me it might be the torque converter on its way out. The tranny doesnt run hot and shifts just fine. I noticed this last week and its getting a little louder every day, any advice would be great! Thanks in advance!

My TC constantly rattled... Could be rear end or driveshaft related

Re: Growling noise???? torque converter ???

The truck is still makeing the noise, but now it sounds more like a vibration, when im slowing down to a stop and now when the trucks idleing in park or drive every now and then. Any thoughts?

Re: Growling noise???? torque converter ???

yes it is common to hear a rattling noise in the torque converter when something lets loose...... I've seen them go for another 50,000 miles making a sound like a can of marbles at idle that makes it seem like they are going to blow any second.

Re: Growling noise???? torque converter ???

Hmm. it sounds more like a grind then a can of marbles, usually when im slowing down, theres no play in the front tires. i felt the hubs when i got home from work and they were warm but not hot, brakes are only a few months old and everything is tight, I spin the tires and the drives side will spin for days and the pass side it a little tighter. im running out of ideas, how else can i check if its the wheel bearings?
