swapping 1990 trans into 1996 truck

Was wondering if a 1990 trans would fit in a 96 truck?

It will work. You need a six stud converter and the 95 and later solenoid pack.

But. If the 90 trans dose not have the current up grades it will not last to long.

If both are E4ODs, or both are C6s,it's possible, but as explained above it is not a direct swap. And the 1990 has to be a diesel trans or it won't work.
