4x4 zf 5 in a 2x4

I have a guy with a 1990 7.3l 4x4 manual. He is parting out the whole truck. Can the output shafts be replaced to make the 4x4 transmission a 2x4 transmission?

Yes you can but you need the output shaft and tail housing off a 2wd unit to make it 2wd.
