4r100 issues

Ok, first post here guys,
i have a 2001 f350 and my transmission shifts fine till i get to cruising speed, (50-60MPH) then the transmission runs at roughly 2200-2500 RPMS if i press the overdrive button a few times it finally will downshift. anyone have any idea what could be causing this? im stumped, was told by a guy that i need a new transmission, drove it with a scan tool and found code P0783....any help?

Re: 4r100 issues

P0783 is the code for 3-4 shift problems. That tells me that it isn't shifting from 3 to 4, so when you press the OD OFF button it can't shift from 4 to 3 since it isn't in 4.

The RPM at speed that you quote also tells me that you probably are in 3, not 4. The shop manual has a diagnostic procedure to determine why it won't shift 3-4. I don't have a copy, maybe someone else does.
