Bell housings on Gas/Diesel 5sps the same?

What about the gear ratios? Anyone know what they are? Will they swap?

Re: Bell housings on Gas/Diesel 5sps the same?

More info please?

some of the 7.3 IDI truck came with an adapter plate between the motor and trans to adapt the trans from BBF to IH bolt pattern. Since then, the diesels have been their own bolt pattern

The ZF5 gas and diesel transmissions are different ratios. The gasser trans is rated at 425ft/lbs and the diesel at 475ft/lbs.

anything past 1997 I have no clue about

Ford stopped building trucks in 1997

The 5 speed auto for a 6.8L and 6.0L are essentially identical. There is one minor difference that I know of, but either will work in either application. All TorqShifts have the same bellhousing and the same gear ratios.
