What you guys think? Opinions?

I just bought a 97 that supposedly got a new trans 50k miles ago, and I'd like to firm up the shifts since the shifts are really slow/soft. I did this mod on my last 97 and it worked great, it really firmed up the shifts and took my trans from slipping to holding whatever you threw at it, but blew about 3 years later (clutch damage only). So that puts the question in my head, did the DIY mod end up killing the trans, or did it bandaid the already slipping trans? I'm asking this because I'm about to do it again on my new truck, but I'd rather have some input from guys who are smarter than me lol. Let me know what you think!
