Which tranny for 7.3?

New to the forum and to these PSD's, been a cummins guy for about 6 years.

My 2000 7.3 4x4 is currently auto, which I want to convert to manual.

Do yall stick with the ford manuals? If so which is best for highway and a little romp here and there. Any experience running G56, NV4500 or NV5600?

ZF5, get rid of the dual mass flywheel and upgrade the clutch I recommend either southbend or valair organic
I believe you can do a NV4500 conversion but i dont know how, someone will chime in soon

My 2000 has the ZF6, and it's completely awesome!
That L gear is pretty bad ass. Especially in 4L....

Re: Which tranny for 7.3?

Well i really want to go manual, nothin sounds better then a straight pipe manual diesel!

Buuut I am looking for some good power and running twins which i can achieve better with a auto. I don't have long to decide. I went down to a local diesel perf shop and saw the BTS trannies.. they are beautiful. Buuut Im not a top speed kinda guy, I like hard gear pulls... so maybe i should do that! haha now Im just thinking outloud!

So I have some thinking to do now!

I would only go with a bts or john woods transmission.

I didn't know they built manual transmissions, too. I thought both of them only built automatics.

I don't remember ever saying they made manual trannys.....

I was replying to his post above mine about not being sure to go with and auto or manual, sorry I'll specify what I mean next time.
