Exclamation Bad Torque Converter?

I was driving on I-95 about 80 mph, when white smoke trailed my truck. I pulled off the ramp and the truck was lurching forward. i quickly pulled in to a gas station and put it in neutral then drifted a little. trans fluid was pouring for a solid 2 mins after i cut it off. towed back to fort bragg from with rear of truck up. checked trans fluid, over-full. i changed it a week before i left and put way too much in. i drained about 3 quarts to get it down to where it should be. started skeptically, grinding noise followed, running for 10 seconds max. i thought it was just the converter, then i saw small, metal shavings flying from the converter area. almost inaudible grinding noise still coming from converter for about 2 minutes after shutting off. also, rpm tach sticks at 600 rpm for about 5 secs after shut-down, then grinding stops. any ideas of what this might be and how bad did i mess things up? btw, changing out bad converter with dealer converter on friday in shop. anything i should check while i have the trans out?

Re: Bad Torque Converter?

I think you'll know more when you pull the converter... Sounds weird.
