rebuilding e4od

Just looking for some input on what I would need to rebuild e4od. I have 97 f250 powerstroke 350 hp use it for snow plowing and tow 5 ton trailer quite often. Would like to know what parts I would need. Valve body or triple disk converter.

Re: rebuilding e4od

When I had mine done, my builder put in the updated 6 pinion steel planetaries from a 4r100, double disk billet converter, and shift kit in the valve body and pump. Make sure to flush the cooler lines and replace the stock cooler with a multirow cooler (6.0 cooler). Mine was making around same power as yours and held up fine after rebuild

I've purchased many rebuild kits from www.transtar1.com.

Re: rebuilding e4od

I recall a lot of the updates for a 4r100 is backdating to 1997 e4od parts
I was researching what I need to do to upgrade a 4r100 and it leads to e4od parts :)

I found this list on google seach here Ford Transmission Forum: E4OD Updates

Quote:
1997 vintage:

This transmission should already include and meet Ford's own 1997 upgrade specifications":

6 Pinion Forward Steel Planetary Carrier;

4 Pinion Overdrive Steel Planetary Carrier;

Shortened Input Shaft (has grove mark on outter end);

Revised Center Support Shaft(stub removed);

Center Support Hub with R-16 Roller Bearing (Instead of Bushing);

Forward hub/planetary thrust Bearing (Instead of steel washer);

Cup Plug in output shaft to control oil flow; and

Center Support Hub silcone lined gasket (better seal)

The only thing that I see that would be an update would be the 1998 E4OD/4R100 pump.

A family friend that is retired from doing transmissions all his life, and now only does race transmissions for drag cars. I'd give you his info but I had a bad experience with the last guy I helped out. I hooked my friend up with him, my guy builds his trans and tried getting ahold of my friend for a month after it was done and basically got screwed over with the whole deal. So he told me he's not doing anymore business with people I send to him
