e4od interchange...all 7.3l interchangeable?

I'm looking for a 4x4 e4od to go into my 78 ford with a 7.3l turbo idi. It currently has a 2wd e4od but the truck is a 4x4. While I'm looking on craigslist I see lots of powerstroke OBS and NBS trucks and I'm curious if I can use one of the newer ones.

I don't think you could use a 4r100 or newer trans without a lot of wiring, and even then, I think they're pcm controlled, so you still would probably be out of luck.

The E4OD is also PCM controlled.

You can use any E4OD or 4R100 from a 7.3L diesel. There are a few differences year to year, so some minor wiring changes may have to be made, or the solenoid body will have to be swapped.

The name E4OD means Electronic 4 speed Over Drive..

I think freight to leatherneck is going to make it unaffordable.

Re: e4od interchange...all 7.3l interchangeable?

Hah well I'm back in the real world now. I haven't updated it. I drove to Austin and picked it all up. Can't wait to get the truck going. I'm going to need to strip down the harnesses and integrate it into my 78 but it shouldnt be hard. I do plan on keeping the cruise control!
