clutch pedal help

Hows it going everyone.

I recently had to replace my clutch pedal assembly on my '01 f250. After installing the new pedal assembly the pedal is about 6 inches higher than my other pedals. Whats happening is that before the clutch is fully released and done pushing my pedal back up the helper spring rolls over and pushes the pedal the rest of the way till it hits the end of its travel. The rod going to my master cylinder is non adjustable and I don't see any other way I could adjust out the free play to avoid the spring rolling over. I must be missing something and was wondering if someone who had done this before could enlighten me.

Thank you.
