5r100 into obs?

Planning out my 2nd cummins swap, fordcummins states that putting a 5r100 and its t-case is an easy swap. Has anyone done this swap? I'll be mating it to a 12 valve with their adapter. I was just wondering if the pcs controller connections take care of everything or is there going to be more sensors and connections?

If you were going to use a stand alone trans controller then I don't see why not. A stand alone computer will come with the nessary harness per application.

Re: 5r100 into obs?

Finally some response lol, thanks guys, not sure if this is the route I'll take, I've just read and heard that the 5R is stronger right from the factory. I will do a build thread when the time comes. Thanks.

Id stick with the 4r. Alot of 6.4 owners that are pushing over 800 hp are switching to a 4r. 4rs are a lot stronger when u build them and a lot cheaper.

Do you already have the 5r100 is that why you are using it. If you still have the e4od why not have JW or BTS just build it for you and save the headache of trying to make the 5r100 work.

Re: 5r100 into obs?

If he is swapping in favor of a cummins into an obs truck he will need a stand alone trans comp anyhow so why not use the better trans, the rest of the interfacing will be nearly the same.

Re: 5r100 into obs?

I think that a BTS or a JW trans is much better than a Stock 5r100 they have proven to hold more power with less money, Plus both of the builders and great with warranty's. Just my two cents.

Re: 5r100 into obs?

I would agree that a good tranny with a good warrenty is always a good route

Re: 5r100 into obs?

I wouldnt waste my time swapping in a 5r. they do not like to work well with standalone controllers. Main reason I didnt use the 5r in my swap. You would be much happier with a PCS and 4r combo
