Grinding in reverse

When I put my 1996 in reverse and give it lets say more then 1/4 throttle to go backwards, the trans starts to make a grinding noise. Any lesser throttle it seems fine. I have to baby the throttle in reverse so it doesnt make that horrible grinding noise.

The truck got a "rebuilt" but previously used trans installed right before I bought the truck. (only put 4500mi on it sence i bought it)
Now theres been so much $*#% poorly assembled and loose on this truck that i am questioning if the torque converted was seated and clicked in when installed... wouldnt suprise me now.
But if that were the case wouldnt the TC leak ATF? Or if some how something went wrong during the installation process???? I didnt install the trans or was there so I dont know.

I checked to see if the TC was bolted to the flex plate and yes all 6 nuts are tight.

Any ideas on what could be the problem? internal? t-case? tq converter?

1996 crew cab long box. 3.73s, auto 493/1135 stockish auto trans.

Re: Grinding in reverse

It is probably something on the engine or transmission hitting the body in reverse.

Re: Grinding in reverse

turned out to be broken springs in the valve body.
