04 powerstroke auto trans problem

i have a 04 f-250 4x4 crew cab with the 5r110 auto trans. my trans has been going downhill fast. it takes a 5- 15 seconds to go into gear, it bucks and jerks after 2 gear and then towhaul light comes flashing, then doesnt shift into 5th gear at all. its does it all the time now. it did it while back and i shut the truck off uninstalled lonney wild tune and installed xrace and it went away far a month. so i bought gogo's direct clutch solenoid and it lasted for about 2 months and is now doing it all the time.

04 f-250 quad cabin 4x4 auto 5r110, 190cc 100%, upgraded oil cooler, upgraded fuel spring regulator, 6.4 banjos, airdogII, gogo's direct clutch solenoid, 5'' exhaust with no cat, sct 3015 with xrace, xstreet, looney wild, srl+,ddp, rcd, super panty dropper, arp headstuds, sinister coolant filtration, sinister egr delete, moderate tuned 58v ficm.

Re: 04 powerstroke auto trans problem

You need to find out what code is stored in memory. When the light flashed a code was stored. It will stay in memory even if the light isn't flashing any longer. The places that read codes free don't have the expensive tool to read trans codes, their cheap readers will tell you there is no code. Don't believe that.

Re: 04 powerstroke auto trans problem

You have a failed solenoid. That caused the P0766. It also cause the P2703. Replace shift solenoid D. I don't have a diagram to tell you which one is D.

Re: 04 powerstroke auto trans problem

i have replaced it with a gogo's direct clutch solenoid once before to prevent this from happening. does this mean its time for a new trany rebuild or just a faulty solenoid.

Re: 04 powerstroke auto trans problem

Hard to tell from here. The codes indicate that the solenoid is bad, not the entire trans.

Re: 04 powerstroke auto trans problem

well i dropped the trans pan and its filled with gunk and pulled the solenoid and it looked fine. so i cleaned everything up and put the pan back on and filled it up. still acting up but i honestly think its fried the trans direct clutches so i gonna buy a stock trans with 88k on it and sell the truck.
