Question e40d troubles please help

so i bought a 1995 f250 with the e40d, and it shifts into second terrible.
and by terribly i mean i have to get the truck up over 20mph/2500rpm and let off the throttle in order to get it to shift. this is the only gear that I have trouble with. Ive been trying to figure it out through other threads and I don't have the "experience" to diagnose this issue myself. I have 0 error codes (p1111). Ive read the my gauge cluster might need to be replaces, could be the vss. could be the solenoids in the transmission. Someone please help. cant really afford to cause any damage to my transmission.

How does it shift if you start with the shifter in 1 and move it to 2 when it should shift?

Re: e40d troubles please help

Of course that helps. Did you think I asked the question just do see if you'd try it?

When shifting manually the trans applies the intermediate band in second gear. That band is ONLY used when the shifter is in the 2 position. When the shifter is in D during the 1-2 shift the intermediate one way clutch has to hold. In a manual 1-2 shift the intermediate band holds the torque instead of the intermediate one way clutch.

This tells me that the intermediate one way clutch is failing. The trans has to come out and get torn down to fix this.
