05 5R110 Replace

I have an 05, 6.0 diesel, 4x4, and 5R110 trans. It has gone south, so I am looking to replace it with a used trans. I need to know what years are going to work with my electrics. I have been told that, example, a 2007 will not work because of the electronis are different.
I came to this Web site to get the straight dope.
Help is really appreciated

Re: 05 5R110 Replace

Why is a rebuild out of the question?

cost?
damaged?

a used transmission is always a crap shoot.

Re: 05 5R110 Replace

I don't know of any reason a 2007 wouldn't work. The 2003-2004 had slightly different gear ratios which might cause problems with the OBDII. I don't think it would, but I never tried it.

Are you guys saying that the electrics will work with my computer? All of the 6.0 transmissions will be a "plug and play" installation?

As far as I know, yes, it will plug right in and work fine.

Re: 05 5R110 Replace

Mark, I would bet the gear ratio difference wouldn't be a problem because I show in my parts catalog that the 2005 planets/sun gear/ring gear are replaced by 2008/2009 parts with no note to reflash the computer with the change. Stephen

Newest project: 1995 F350 CC/DRW 2WD E4OD. 3" DP, 4" Diamond Eye system. But I'm still fixin' the broken stuff......

Re: 05 5R110 Replace

The planets/sun/etc didn't change from 2005-2009. The 2003 and 2004 are different from the later parts.
