Overdrive

My 97 psd keeps blowing the overdrive fuses and I was wondering if anyonr could tell me why?

Which fuse number in the panel?

96 F250 CC SB 4x4

do you have the OD On/Off pushbutton on the shifter of a '97?...if so the wires might be frayed under the dash and shorting...

I know my dads old truck had a od on off but it was a button on the dash either way check out the wires going it.

Yup, check the wiring from the shift lever down the column. Look for pinch points. A short will blow the dash fuse.

I did check the wires and it was pinched but now I still have the column cover off and it still does it???????

Does it blow the fuse right away or does it take a while?

You still have a short is why, keep looking. It can short in the button itself. Then you need a new lever.

Lever has been replaced twice.It usually takes a while to blow

Hard to track down something like that. See if you can find a circuit breaker same amp rating as the fuse. Then you can wiggle test the harness and listen for the breaker to pop.
