Trans Fluid

I am getting ready to install my John Wood 4r100 trans in my '03 Excursion 7.3. I did not get Shaffer trans fluid from John when I purchased the trans.

I know this has been beat to death as to what type of trans fluid. So what do I need to put in the trans? I can get Dextron III/Mercon, Mercon V. The book says Dextron III/Mercon.

I know trans fluid have been reformulated with different names etc. Went through that when I had my DuraMax and looking on here looks like the same thing had happened to.

What I prefer is to get something that I can drive up to an auto parts store or even WalMart and buy off the shelf.

Thanks.

John
