Shellzone Coolant for 97 Diesel

I bought Shellzone coolant. It meets ASTM D4985 and ASTM3306 and is green which is what Gooch says it needs to be for tese trucks. It is not listed on the bottle anywhere low silicate. If it meets ASTM D4985 does that mean it is low silicatE?

I also bought a bottle of Fleetguard DC4 as well.

Re: Shellzone Coolant for 97 Diesel

ASTM D4985 is the standard spec for low-silicate coolant for heavy duty engines. The ASTM D4985 coolant plus an SCA (either DCA-4 or DCA-2) is what your particular build date engine would require. So by adding SCA to that heavy-duty low-silicate coolant you're good to go.

Note: If you see ASTM D6210, it is basically ASTM D4985 with the SCA already in the coolant (ASTM D6210 = ASTM D4985 + SCA): Typically called pre-charged. ASTM D3306 is just the most basic standard spec for coolant...you'll need more than just that spec alone for a diesel.
