DEF Fluid storage

I have a 2015 6.7 and bought several DEF 2.5 gal and was going to store out in the shed, unheated in Iowa gets to below 0 deg. On the label says don't store below 12 Deg will freeze.
My question is will it have negative impact on the DEF if freezes?
What happen's to the DEF in my truck when it is below 0?
Thanks Mike

Re: DEF Fluid storage

I wouldn't store it outside in extreme cold. Put it in a closet or something in your house out of direct sunlight. The DEF tank on your truck has a heater/sensor. I believe it will start/run even with frozen DEF in the tank and then gradually thaw it out while driving.
