Re: Weird water leak inside cab from vent fan
Well, I figured it out.....
Ended up taking the glove box out and opened up the cooling coil. Found the drain, and it is definitely not clogged. It was clean as a whistle and there was no water sitting in there. Did some more searching on the internet and found there to be a common problem with water accumulating in that fan housing. What seems to happen is water drips down from the mounting screws from the windshield housing above. I took the shroud off and made sure both the fresh air intake seal was sealed up good with some sealant and that the clips were sealed well. The other big fix people had was to drill a small 1/4" hole in the bottom of the fan housing to prevent the water from accumulating and running into the cab of the truck. If you think about how your A/C normally pulls from the outside, this 1/4" hole will not affect anything. People have done it and reported no issues anymore.
Sooooo, between caulking the clips for the hood shroud near the windshield and this little hole, I think I have it fixed.
