What ever you do don't use the Amsoil 5w-40 diesel oil. It foams bad in our motors and the injectors don't like it at all!!!! Ben

I have been running Rotella synthetic 5-40 for years and love it. I dont run anything else. All year from winter temps where I live that get well below 0* to summer months taking trips to Lake Havasu. It works really well. I get it at Walmart for about $16/gallon.

Re: Oil recommendation (lighter than 15W-40)?

John, Rotella 5-40 synthetic like the other guys said.

I used it last winter and my truck started and ran so much easier in the cold weather. My truck really likes that oil.

#### amsoil. Try the Rotella and see what you think.

JW, that would probably be a good choice if he wants dinosaur, although the synthetic has a lower base viscosity and will still outperform it overall.
Where do you buy rimula?

Re: Oil recommendation (lighter than 15W-40)?

According to what I've read and learned about Rimula, it's Texaco Ursa oil. When Shell bought out Texaco it renamed the oil Rimula. And it was always my understanding that it was a little better formulation than Rotella T.

We carry Rimula at our place, me and my dad run the 10W-30 in our trucks every winter. Trucks seem to start better in the cold mornings with the thinner oil.

I've never seen any tests done on it so I don't actually know how well it performs, but I've never had any issues with.

I like Rotella Syn as well. Starts and runs great in the winter. I run an Oilguard bypass and can usually get away with one oil change a year so the extra cost is pretty much a wash.

Re: Oil recommendation (lighter than 15W-40)?

Try Schaeffer's series 9000 5W-40. Excellent cold weather operation and excellent used oil analysis results. www.schaefferoil.com

If you call the 1-800 # and find a sales rep in you area you can save about 20%. Runs @ $16 per gallon. The first link is a product description and the second is the technical data sheet. Compare the tech data with others you are considering and you'll see who outperforms the others.
