Re: Delo 15w40

Delo 400 15W-40 is a very good oil for a PSD. Very good results on Used Oil Analysis Reports, If I didn't run Schaeffer's Oil I would use Delo 400.

Re: Delo 15w40

One of the reasons I prefer Delo 400 over Rotella is it's additive package. Delo 400 uses Moylbdenum like Schaeffer's does - just in a smaller amount. Here are two oil analysis reports to show my point. The first is a virgin oil sample of Rotella 15W-40. The second is of Delo 400 15W-40. Looking at the additive levels on the reports, you can see the difference in the additive packages.

Unfortunately the Delo 400 report I posted is not of a virgin sample but I think it will sufice to show my point - even though the additive levels are lower than a virgin sample. I thought I had a Delo 400 virgin sample on my laptop at home, it must be on the work one.

Re: Delo 15w40

At my work for services on all semis and such we use delo. And we service alot of the big oil companies trucks like Schlumberger,BJ,Halliburton etc and they all prefer and request that delo gets used in all their trucks. And if any of you are familiar with frac pumps we service those to and use delo in those to. Id say its a pretty trusted oil!

Re: Delo 15w40

smokin/blue,
I have the same experience with delo. I have worked for 4 companies with good sized fleets over the past 25 years, all of them used delo 15-40. if you are in a very cold climate I would strongly consider synthetic but, there is nothing wrong with delo. I have used it for 20 years but, I'm in a warm climate.

I do believe IH factory fills, and suggests delo! that is saying something! I would not hesitate to use mobile delvac, that would be my next choice.

Re: Delo 15w40

All my logging buddies here in Idaho use Delo in their logging trucks. There's nothing worse on a diesel engine than running a logging truck in these mountains and talcum dust. I have some blackstone reports from when I was running Amsoil and then switched to Delo, very dramatic difference.
