UOA...Where should I send my oil?

I am due for a oil change in another 1,000 miles or less and I want to send it out to get checked. I have been using BlackStone, but have heard some bad about them lately.

Where would you suggest I send the oil out to??

Can't beat Schaeffer's. At $9 a piece and postage is prepaid to send the sample to the lab.

In addition, Schaeffer's and OAI Testing also provide the nitration & oxidation levels which Blackstone does not.

Several errors and inconsistencies in their reporting, in reports from several different people. I've seen several of them. Things like coolant leaks in one report that seems to have magically disappeared in the next one with nothing done to the engine, reporting significant PPM of metals in an oil that simply can't be there (magnesium, which is an additive, but the gear lube sampled doesn't use any of it), and numbers that just don't make sense with increases in viscosity over time while TBN goes down and no significant soot (excessive soot can increase viscosity)...just to name a few.

Too many reports from them, all from different people, and over the last couple of years. I just don't trust them anymore. The majority of the time, Blackstone seems fine, but I won't risk it with them anymore.

I started using Schaeffer's because of that, and have been very pleased with the service there. Schaeffer's reports are a little more "raw" than Blackstone since they don't have the little narrative at the top, but the data is all there, including a couple things Blackstone doesn't test for.

Like Rich pointed out too, the price is significantly less expensive. At $9 a sample for Schaeffer's kits, you can get nearly 6 samples from Schaeffer's for what it would cost for only 2 from Blackstone.
