oil change

I'm getting ready to change my oil and I'm thinking of going with something new. What oil (brand and weight) are you guys running and how long have you been running it? Like it over something else you ran for a while?

Re: oil change

That premium blue extreme or whatever its called? I was thinking that too. I don't put more than 8k on my super duty a year so price doesn't really matter, if I go to synthetic I will only be doing one oil change a year.

Re: oil change

If that's the case, then I would go with the Premium Blue 15w40 non-synthetic. It's about 2/3 the cost and you shouldn't really need the 5w40 too bad in your climate.

Re: oil change

I use Rotella 5W40 in the winter and Rotella 15W40 in the summer (usually ends up being 5k miles per season).

Re: oil change

really? you think i should use the non syn? I was talking to my buddy at napa, he can get me the 5w40 premium blue extreme synthetic for a little under $30 a gallon, and the 15w40 premium blue non synthetic for $15 or $16 a gallon.

Re: oil change

I get my rotella syn from walmart for less than $20/gallon. I might give the valvoline syn a try on my next oil change just for comparison sake.

Re: oil change

I used rotella for a long time. but one time they ran out and only had the premium blue so i got a few gallons, my truck seemed to like it alot more and it seemed like it deteriorated alot slower than the rotella. I never went back to rotella after that. But what I hope to do sometime is use the shaffers i hear its some great stuff.
