6.0 guys that went from 15-40 conv to 5-40 syn

Did you guys see a big difference hanging to 5w 40 full synthetic?

Slowly blend it or just drain the old 15-40 and fill it with the 5-40 synthetic?

Anyone have any bad things to say about running 5w 40 synthetic?

i personally really like 5w40. I run the rotella T6 full synthetic and a 8oz bottle of archoil ar9100 and that combination for me is golden. Before the archoil she wouldnt run right till after 10mins at 180EOT now i can pull away at 100 and not miss a beat.

The good:
Easier starts
Runs smoother
Slightly better throttle response.

The bad:
Costs alot!

I switched all at once while I was replacing the oil cooler.

I went from motorcraft 15w40 to Amsoil Premium 5w40 in my 7.3 The first couple of oil changes I noticed I was burning about a 1.5L every 4000 miles. It seams to have stopped doing that however. Starts way easier, in this past winter at temps around the -30 celcius it would start no problem without being plugged in. It does run different until warmed up, probably has to do with the low viscosity.

I went from 15w-40 to 5w-30, Amsoil and it made huge difference. Truck starts easier runs quieter. I'm very happy.

Rotella T6 full synth: Smoother, quieter, snappier throttle, small MPG gain. Like it!
