Fuel Filter change on 09 6.4

Well I went to drain water from the separator on my new to me 09 SD and the valve handle broke ([email protected]#$%^& plastic) ordered new one from Ford dealer. So I thought I'd change the fuel filters at the same time And I've read that a few people doing this have gotten a fuel bath. What I did was opened fuel tank cap, loosened the screws to the valve assembly and then loosened the filter cap on engine and then sat back and let it drain and only got about a quart of fuel out of it. after it stopped dripping fuel I changed the Valve assembly replaced filters primed it and started it up hardly no mess at all.

Re: Fuel Filter change on 09 6.4

what i usually did at the dealer was, let water fuel drain, take off big filter, reinstalled new filter then went to turn key on 3 times in 30 sec intervals. then changed top filter. again 3 key on's in 30 second intervals
